When you need an exact size, not just "smaller"

Compressing an image reduces its weight, but doesn't always control the exact dimensions — and many forms, templates, or platforms ask for a specific pixel size: a 400×400 profile photo, a 1200×630 header image, an 800×800 product thumbnail. That's when you need to set an exact width and height, not just cap the maximum size.

SMALLIMG lets you type the width and height you need directly, and calculates the other value automatically if you enable "Lock aspect ratio" — so you don't have to do the math by hand every time.

Keep the aspect ratio, or force exact dimensions

With "Lock aspect ratio" on (the default), you type one of the two values — width or height — and the other is calculated automatically, respecting the image's original shape so it doesn't come out distorted or stretched.

If you turn that off, you can set both values completely independently — useful when the destination requires exact dimensions regardless of the original proportions, even if that means visually cropping the image by forcing it into a different aspect ratio.

What happens if I only type the width?

With "Lock aspect ratio" on, the height is calculated automatically from your image's proportions — you don't need to type both values.

Can I force dimensions that don't respect the original aspect ratio?

Yes — turning off "Lock aspect ratio" lets you set width and height independently.

Does resizing also reduce the file's weight?
